You Don’t Need Another Mentor, You Need a Sponsor
Mentorship has been long recognized as a salient practice in leadership development. However, while mentors may help proteges understand institutional culture and steps needed to advance leadership development, they may or may not be invested in “opening doors” for them. In this presentation, I discuss the concept of “sponsorship” and its practical application in leadership development especially as it relates to advancing people of color in academe.
